Description
In 2006, Major Brian Dix, Director of the The Commandants Own, the US Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, composed a hymn called Corpsman Up to honor all corpsmen that have provided selfless acts of valor while caring for the wounded on the battlefield. Major Dix was inspired to write this hymn as he was doing volunteer work for the wounded at the National Naval Medical Center now the Walter Reed National Military Center (WRNMNC). He was especially inspired by the heroic actions of Navy Corpsman Petty Officer 3rd Class Nathaniel Leoncio who was gravely wounded while caring for the wounded and subsequently lost his leg at the Battle of Ramadi. He was treated at the NNMC. The WRNMMC Oakleaf Club initiated a project to commission artist Todd Krasovetz in 2007 to pursue and discuss a project to honor Major Dix and his historic composition: Corpsman Up: Battle of Ramadi. The original painting size is approximately 48 inches by 58 inches, oil on canvas. Order your Limited Edition prints today or call 1.619.490.0095.
